Wearable Art: Minimalist Collection - Patina experiments on twisted copper cuff bracelet

Introducing Unique Cuff Bracelets - Available on Etsy!

A dear friend recently requested some hair sticks, and that got my creative gears turning. While you may spot some bracelets in the background, let's focus on the hair sticks for now. I shared with Beverly an ingenious idea - repurposing the copper and aluminum grounding wire from a stack of utility poles on her property. The perfect materials for crafting hair sticks!  (and bracelets as it turned out)

It's fascinating how I often stumble upon such incredible resources. Friends and clients often approach me with custom requests, and they either have the materials or connect me to new sources. Bev's family had these utility poles sitting on their property for years, hoping to use them for something, but the wire was in the way. Now, with their generous contribution, the wire finds a purpose in unique hair sticks and stunning twisted cuff bracelets. It's a beautiful way to give these forgotten materials a new life and preserve their legacy.

Before we delve further, let me emphasize that at Quix Art & Design, we pride ourselves in utilizing recycled and reclaimed materials extensively. Everywhere I look, I encounter decaying buildings or scrap piles, remnants of the once thriving small businesses and family farms at the heart of our nation. Our mission is to honor and remind people of that remarkable legacy. When you purchase our works, you not only support sustainable fashion and small businesses but also make a mindful statement  about supporting family farming. By wearing our bracelets, you proudly represent the revival of small businesses and farming. Let your bracelet be the conversation starter at your next social event, igniting meaningful discussions.  Get your bracelet on Etsy today!

Our cuff bracelets also stand out with their distinct patinas. If you're not familiar with the term, patina refers to the beautiful coloration that naturally develops on copper over time. Usually green or blue, but with heat treating and environmentally friendly chemical processes, a rich array of hues can be achieved. My personal favorite is the enchanting "ember red," adding a touch of elegance and uniqueness to each piece. Check out the captivating results in the photos accompanying this post.

I owe my exploration of copper's vibrant hues to my childhood artistic adventures with my incredible mother. Stained glass and copper were our companions, and through those experiences, I learned to appreciate the value of working with materials that push the boundaries of creativity. Thank you, Mom, for these early lessons and your unwavering support.

The foundation of these works is a testament to the incredible generosity of Beverly from Grand Prosthetics and Orthotics in Grove, OK. A heartfelt thank you to Bev for making this creative journey possible. Additionally, I want to express my gratitude to Dave, whose memory continues to inspire us. Though he may no longer be with us physically, I believe he's watching over us and guiding our endeavors. Thank you, Dave, for being a part of this meaningful journey.

So, dive into the realm of unique cuff bracelets. Experience the magic of recycled materials and artistic patinas that will add a touch of elegance to your style. Embrace the artful legacy and sustainable fashion. Find our captivating creations on Etsy and let them be the symbol of your extraordinary support for small businesses and sustainable living.
